Transformative Dog-Assisted Intervention

🐾We are a holistic therapy service providing joy, tail-wagging, and fur-tastic paws-and-effect experiences🐾

Welcome! FETCH is a small service here to support their local community in Worthing and surrounding areas. With a big heart and deep values. Led by Alice, an experienced mental health professional and HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist, who has teamed-up with the amazing Mickey, a registered hidden disability support dog and certified therapy dog who absolutely loves his job role as therapy assistant!

Together, they offer Animal Assisted Interventions (AAIs) to support youth and related caregivers navigating adversity. Services are usually one element of a bigger care and support plan. Pending on the needs and agreed partnership, FETCH can provide you with innovative solutions (1:1 or small groups) via dog-assisted therapy, education, and meaningful activities, creating a positive and meaningful dog-led experience that can lead to achieving individual milestones to reach cognitive, emotional, physical, and social potential.

Lived experience matters:

Alice is a neurodiverse woman with AuDHD, with a history of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Special Educational Needs (SEN), and a trauma-to-thriving journey understanding self-worth. It has shaped every aspect of support offered. Alice understands—intimately and authentically—the rich complexities of relationships, the stigma and lack of awareness from others, the adversity of life with a hidden disability, waiting lists and the austerity of the health and social care system, what it feels like to be misunderstood, unsupported, or expected to mask/ be conditioned to reach personal wishes and goals. And how this shapes life decisions, stress loops, and coping mechanisms. That insight is more than empathy; it’s embodied knowing. This enables Alice to:

❤️‍🩹 See beyond behaviours to underlying needs

❤️‍🩹 Hold a safe space to be truly trauma-informed, process complex emotions and sensory experiences

❤️‍🩹 Offer non-judgmental, and reliable neurodiversity-affirming support

❤️‍🩹 Empower children to unmask, advocate for themselves, and reclaim joy

❤️‍🩹 Enhances trust, acceptance, and building meaningful professional relationships

❤️‍🩹 To be able to identity, validate, and guide learning of the brain

❤️‍🩹 Inspire youth via shared experiences. Building rapport with someone who has walked a similar path and now stands strong with purpose, it models what’s possible and reframes to a positive outlook of the future.

Together, they now share their experience, knowledge, and compassion via a dog-assisted process. Helping youth who are navigating adversity to unmask, recognise and process their needs, explore self-care, increase confidence, and build foundations for a positive sense of self- all elements that can assist with decreasing dehumanising experiences, subjection, and/or hardship.
